Medical power supply complies with latest EMC standards

A compact 300W series has been added to CUI’s line of internal AC/DC medical power supplies. The VMS‑300A series, available in industry standard 3 x 5in open frame and metal enclosed packages, delivers efficiencies of up to 94% and power densities of up to 14.5W/in3.

Meeting EN 60601-1 edition 3.1 safety standards and 4th edition EMC requirements, the single output power supplies are designed for energy-conscious, 2 x MOPP hospital, home healthcare, and dental applications.

The open frame VMS‑300A and metal enclosed VMS‑300A‑CNF series carry UL/cUL and TUV 60601-1 safety marks while meeting EN 55022 Class B and FCC Class B limits for radiated emissions.

The series features a universal input voltage range of 90 to 264V AC with output voltage options of 12, 24, 36, and 48V DC. All models also offer 4000V AC input-to-output isolation and 1500V AC output-to-ground isolation.

Additional features include power factor correction, remote voltage sense, a 5V standby, and remote on/off control as well as over voltage, over current, over temperature, and short circuit protections.

The open frame version of the VMS‑300A series measures 76.2 x 127 x 35.1mm and operates in temperatures ranging at full load from -40 to 50°C with forced air cooling, derating to 60% load at 70°C.

Dimensions for the metal enclosed package measure 88 x 136 x 40.4mm, while operating in temperatures ranging at full load from -40 to 60°C with forced air cooling, derating to 60% load at 80°C.
