IRVINE, USA, Dec. 13, 2010:- Microsemi Corporation today announced that Electronics Weekly magazine has selected SmartFusion™ intelligent mixed signal FPGAs as the winner of the 2010 Elektra Award for Embedded System Product of the Year. The industry-recognized SmartFusion device is the world’s first intelligent mixed signal FPGA that integrates an FPGA, hard ARM® Cortex™-M3-based microcontroller subsystem (MSS) and programmable analog, offering full customization, IP protection and ease-of-use.

“The entries demonstrated the high level of integrated design which has become the norm in today’s embedded systems. The winner added a new level of integration which engineers are now using in their designs,” said the Elektra Award judges.

“With SmartFusion devices, embedded designers no longer have to compromise, and they can easily build the system they want, with all the features they need, on a single chip,” said Rich Kapusta, vice president, terrestrial products for Microsemi’s SoC Products Group. “This integration provides a revolutionary approach to embedded design and enables new levels of performance, time to market, and flexibility.”

The Elektra Awards gives the industry the opportunity to recognize the achievements of individuals and companies. The awards are designed to promote best practice in key areas including, innovation, sales growth and employee motivation. An independent panel of judges selected the Elektra Award winners, which were announced in London on December 9 at the Elektra Awards Dinner.
